Wesley Snipes’ Blade Breaks World Record

At 62 years old, Wesley Snipes recently broke two Guinness World Records for his portrayal of Blade in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine. First, he set the record for the longest career as a live-action Marvel character, spanning 25 years and 340 days since his debut as Blade in 1998. This milestone surpassed the previous record held by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Additionally, Snipes achieved the record for the longest gap between appearances as a Marvel character, returning 19 years and 231 days after his last portrayal in Blade: Trinity (2004). This appearance breaks the gap previously held by Alfred Molina, who reprised his role as Doc Ock after 17 years in Spider-Man: No Way Home

Arguably, the 20th century’s original Goth Girl, Carla Laemmle holds the record for the widest vampire movie gap in cinema history. She made her screen debut in 1925 in The Phantom of the Opera and gained recognition for her role in Dracula (1931), delivering its first line. After a lengthy hiatus, of 60+ years, Laemmle returned to film and the vampire genre  in the 2001’s The Vampire Hunter’s  Club. She continued acting until shortly before her death in 2014 with her final horror movie appearance coming after her in 2015’s Mansion of Blood.  This extraordinary career not only reflects her longevity but also her role as one of the last silent-film-era actors. Her uncle, Carl Laemmle, may also be her namesake, was a cofounder and influentiual leader at universal Studios.
